Glad to hear you're enjoying Ashley's version of events, silly as they might be! (and bound to get sillier, ha.) Hope you'll see it through to the end! :)

RE4 Otome was constructed by stringing together brief animated scenes of gameplay from the actual video game itself, mixed seamlessly with extra asides designed by the team at Shimmersoft. Gameplay involved clicking to advance the scenes and read the narrative text and dialogue associated with each scene. Some of the choices revealed more detail about the background of the story, often divulged through conversation. Many of the choices offered in the game seem to be intended as moments to highlight the personality of the heroine, Ashley, rather than to change the actual course of the game, though there were a few choices in the game that could result in dead ends and auto-restarted to continue from the same decision juncture. Most of the game felt like a kinetic visual novel rather than a choice-driven one, so go into it expecting a fun ride without many opportunities to change the outcome.

The sarcasm and wit in this game is neverending, and keeps every moment absolutely entertaining. Unexpected comments and the hilarious random musings of the slightly ditzy heroine, Ashley, painted the normally grim circumstances of Resident Evil in comedic hues. I seriously laughed out loud when the hero, Leon, started breaking a barrel to get a healing leaf. Ashley's resulting confusion and speculation about his anti-barrel obsession was even funnier. This visual novel makes fun of ridiculous video game conventions and how absurdly convenient some of them are, never straying far from the context of the story viewed through Ashley's innocent an naïve eyes.

Overall, this is a very fun and hilarious take on the dark events in Resident Evil 4, and the shift in perspective to the heroine, Ashley, made this feel like a totally different game, even though I'd played through the original Capcom game before. Many of Ashley's thoughts about Leon were absolutely hilarious and memorable, suggesting this game could become a cult classic (haha) with fans endlessly quoting it to each other. If you're looking for a humorous take on the Resident Evil series viewed from the heroine's perspective, and if you don't mind the endless stream of humor, this is an enjoyable way to relive the original RE4 experience!

I know jackshit about RE4.

Am I still gonna play this?

Absolutely. :D

(+4)

You've got the right attitude!

(+5)

know the game and have watched gameplays but dont really know the what main plot is about but... ive always thought Leon is attractive and therefor im gonna play this just for him and because i got nothing better to do :')

(+3)

fortunately, the game's plot has about the same depth as leon's hair part and otome edition gives enough detail that you'll know basically what's going on. good luck scoring that himbo! :)

Hey!! I only played till episode 5 thru the browser and i'm wondering.. Is there an alt method of download? Mega stopped at 1.40gb and keeps giving errors, and the browser version is getting too laggy for me :/

Hey! Sorry you ran into that trouble! I just added an alternative download option for the Windows version - give that a shot and let me know if it works (granted, I am concerned you'll encounter the same issue as Mega due to your Internet resisting the large download). If it doesn't work, I may have to try something else, like breaking the game into chunks and letting you reassemble them. Let me know!

Oh it worked like a charm!! Many thanks :DD

(oof. forgot to hit 'post reply')

I've been enjoying the game so far! I just gave the Merchant a codename lmao (def don't wanna smooch the man i swear)

(1 edit)

Awesome! Hope you have fun with the rest of the game! And don't worry, this is a judgment-free space. ;)

(1 edit) (+1)

just finished now and i really love it :)  not sure if i'll be able to unlock every images and solve the puzzle though.

i'm glad i got to knew this amazing visual novel (and i'll have to really play resident evil 4 to fully understand everything )

(+1)

We're really happy to hear you had a good time! Whose ending(s) did you get? Any particular episode that got the most chuckles or surprise out of you? :)

To be fair, you couldn't have really completed the puzzle because I just discovered some broken elements lol. I've quietly spent the day correcting issues and I think I've got everything covered. If you want a go at it, you should try installing the patch file I just added to Itch, or you can also just download a fresh copy, which has all the changes included (anything you've unlocked so far will be preserved, don't worry).

I tried to avoid making the puzzle clues too obtuse, but I'll be happy to give you any extra hints! Otherwise, if you just want to see the bonus content without all the struggle, you can reach out to me via email, Discord, or Twitter and I'll send you a cheat code. ;)

Really appreciate you giving the game a chance! Hope you'll tell your friends and consider our other games!

about the ending it seems i got Leon ending ,at least i think giving the picture of them both in bed after the 4 years passed ,which i guess is probably the easiest? i think i saw what to do for Luis and the Merchant guy so i'll have to try and see :) . i do not think there something to be done with salad or saddle ahaha, or there is?

i do not have many friends but i shared your game page on facebook :)

i will download the patch then ,easier for me than downloading all again (my computer is slow )

i will check you other games too for sure :)

i barely remember seeing my brother playing resident evil 4  but i played the 1,2,3 ,5,6  , great visual novel and very funny :)

(+1)

Thank you, glad you've enjoyed it! Hopefully everything made sufficient sense, even with only a cursory memory of RE4. Did you manage to romance anybody? Or maybe everybody?

(+1)

yes everything makes sense even if i dont really remember much about resident evil 4 ,i should probably play it for a better understanding,

not sure why i never thought about it before considering that during this time of covid i re played a lot of old games.

i have not yet been to the end of the visual novel but i wanted to comment already , it's a great thing that you made this point vieuw from Ashley side , more games would need such side vieuw i believe :) aside from the bubbles dreams of Ashley i have not seen any romance yet

(+1)

I'm pretty sure I'm legally obligated to tell you to go play RE4, so Capcom doesn't think I'm trying to deprive them of sales on a 15-year-old game lol.

But we're glad you like seeing things from Ashley's perspective! We also felt it was important for her to regain some agency, since the game itself treats her so poorly.

Of course, since we're following the game's original plot, most of the "romance" is, well, in Ashley's brain lol. But some of your decisions are improving your chances  of getting a guy's ending, so stay diligent!

(1 edit) (+1)

i will play it  surely sometime soon it's just knowing how all resident evil's are  I am not really lost in following your visual novel :)

(they won't be deprived on sales lol i have the game somewhere among other games )

( for some reason  my place as become a sanctuary for old games and consoles in my family which is why i have resident evil 4  even if i never played it )

you right it's important to give some love to characters that does not get enough of it on their original game ,i can think of a few like that.

i hope that i'll be seeing some funny endings :) Ashley is amazing :)

(+1)

Ohh!! Looking forward to playing this haha. My browser is pretty laggy so I'll download !! :D

(+1)

Awesome! Yeah, I'd recommend the Windows version unless you just have good Internet speed or just really want to play it on a tablet/phone in bed (which is viable). Hope you enjoy!

(+3)

what in gods name have i found

(1 edit) (+2)

it seems like you've found the world's longest love letter masquerading as a shitpost, lol. or maybe it's the other way around. you can tell us after you play it. ;)

Is this safe for work?

(+3)

Content-wise, I'd say it's largely PG13. Some upper body male nudity, cursing, snippets of RE4's inherent violence.

But would I want to explain the premise to a coworker who happened to walk by? Hell no lol.

Hope that helps!
